Sample Schedule

Children learn through play; because of this, I do not under estimate its importance on a growing childs mind, body and spirit. Therefore, the children under my care receive lots of both free-play and structured-play throughout each day. During structured-play we primarily have only one group of toys or activity out at a time in order to allow the children to concentrate fully on each thing they do. Age appropriate activities will be scheduled with the flexibility allowed to respond to the needs of each individual child and their various ages. Please keep in mind that this is a guide. Each day is mostly child-directed; not guided by the clock.

* We follow a themed based curriculum and daily schedule. Daily reports are sent home, along with monthly eNewletter.

7:00 - 8:00 am - Breakfast, clean-up, free-play. Children who arrive prior to 8:00 will be served breakfast.

8:30 - 9:30 am - Free Play

9:30 - 10:00am - AM Snack

10:15 - 11:00 Circle Time - Children will be given an opportunity to share any news or special experiences. During this time we will sing interactive songs, such as “The ABC, "Wheels on the Bus" and “Five Little Ducks”. The children who wish to be helpers for the day will choose the jobs they would like to do. We will discuss the day of the week. One child will be chosen to mark the day on our calendar.

11:00 - Noon Outside / Free play - Children will choose their own games and activities. There will be a variety of toys, games, and activities available to the children geared toward enhancing their growth and development. If weather permits we may go outside.

12:00 - 12:30 Lunch

12:30-12:45 Brush Teeth. Clean up. Children get ready for rest time.

12:45 - Rest / Quite time. children who do not fall asleep may play quietly. There are books, puzzles, and a variety of toys available for quiet play.

2:00pm - Free play while children wake from rest time. *Computer, PBS, Science, Discovery Channel, or educational videos.

3:00 pm Afternoon snack.

3:45 pm Circle Time - Afternoon circle time gives us a chance to say good-bye to friends. Those children who were not present during the early morning are given an opportunity to share any news or special experiences. During this time we will sing interactive songs and read a story. Some days this will be a planned activity based on our current theme or skill focus. Other days the children will be given materials to work on their own creations.

4:00 - 5:00 pm If weather permits we may go outside for a nature walk and/or backyard play.

5:30pm - Good Byes

Additional indoor activities include: books and story-time, Legos, circle-time, tumbling exercises, Lincoln Logs, Kids-Kinex, music and dancing, dress up, play food, interactive stuffed animals, cars/trucks/planes, arts and crafts, puzzles, flash cards, animals/dinosaurs, trains, musical instruments, balls, dolls and Barbies, various learning toys, musical instruments, various games, Mr. Potato Head, bean bag toss, blocks, beads and string, song games, play dough, coloring, sing along story books, painting, science, board games, puppets, Simon-says, and singing.

Additional outdoor activities include: climbing, sliding, jumping, running, balls, jump rope, racing, water balloons, parachute, catch, bubbles, follow the leader, squirt bottles, ride-on toys, wagons, tunnels, safe water toys, various games, kiddie pool, water table, painting, neighborhood walks, exploring nature/weather, soccer, and yes falling. As you know, children play hard and will get some bumps and bruises from time to time. We do our best to limit the amount of times this occurs, with constant supervision and watchful eyes. Due to the safe environment/toys we have surrounded ourselves with, we hope to prevent any injuries before they can happen. During the summer months we allow for more outdoor activities and creative art projects.

Weather permitting, we play outdoors every day.
